8th: All classes please should complete the following items by their assigned dates:

     1. Decorate your class portfolio by Wed. Sept. 10, 2008

     2. Have Expectation guide signed

     3. Please read pages 122-126; Answer "Questions to Explore" by Tues. Sept. 9th.

9th: All classes must turn in their History Portfolio at the start of class tomorro w

All classes:  Re-read pages 122-124; practice outline on House of Burgesses

 

16th: All class read pages: 128-131; Analyze "Mayflower Compact".  All answers must be in complete sentences!!!

 

17th:  All classes please complete your Constitution Day essay on the Bill of Rights.  Directions: Please choose an amendment and describe in a minimum of seven sentences why that amendment is the most important to you.  You need at least 2 resons to support your answer!!!

     Daily Journal: What role should religion play in the governing of society?

 

18th: Day of Review; No homework!!!!!

 

22nd: All classes please read pages 132-136 by the start of class tomorrow.


23rd: Optional assignment.  Student representative speeches.  To be presented in class tomorrow.  Each student will have an opportunity to run for representative in Mr. Prior's class.  As the class representatives you will have the opportunity to make rules for the classroom for the term  Each candidate should have a presentation that lasts approximately 2 minutes and be able to take questions from the class.

 

24th: Define: Mayflower Compact, Great Migration, Toleration, Commonwealth

 

        Identify: John Carver, John Winthrop, Roger Williams, Anne Hutchinson

 

25th: Assign: Colonial Brochure project.  Dues Sept. 30, 2008                          See class project page for details.

 

29th: All classes: complete "Colonial Brochure" project due tomorrow. 

Read text pages 168-171; Define: bill of rights, libel, mercantilism, Navigation Acts, legislature.

 

30th: All students on the 8th grade green team must have 2 hours of uninterrupted fun for homework today.  This is a reward for all who have turned in their project on time.  Great Job.
