Unit: Thirteen America Colonies
Lesson: Colonial Brochure
Standard: Research, Evidence, and Points of View
Overview: Over the last couple of weeks we have been discussing the growth of the original thirteen American colonies. Founded by a variety of different people for a variety of different reasons, the thirteen colonies began to grow and develop at an amazing rate. Your job, if you choose to accept it is to create a brochure for one of the thirteen colonies that encourages colonists to settle in America. ***Creativity knows no bounds.***
Requirements:
1. Name of the colony. (10 pts.)
2. Date when the colony was founded. (20 pts.)
3. Type of colony that was settled (Royal, Joint Stock Co., etc) (20 pts.)
4. Leader or founder of the colony. Picture from Internet is ok (20 pts.)
5. Picture that encourages settlement (15 pts.)
6. Turned in on time (15 pts.)
7. Inspirational message to people that attracts people to the colony.
a. Message can be in the form of a poem. Rap (12 lines, 6 lines that rhyme)
b. Newspaper article (minimum of 50 words with title for newspaper, title for article)
Feel free to make your brochure as colorful as you can. You may research your information on line, or from the textbook. You may use the Internet to make your projects as creative as possible.
